All are welcome to our Worship Service held at 10:00 AM Sunday mornings.  Child care is provided year-round.  Join us at 43 Highland Avenue, on beautiful Cohasset Common.

The 10am Service
Services from September through late June are held at 10am in the main sanctuary up the stairs to left or right immediately upon entering the church. Handicap access is via an elevator just on left through double doors. Greeters welcome you at the front door as you enter church. Shake their hands and wish them a good morning, too! Gary, our minister, encourages visitors to introduce themselves or be introduced by their host. All attendees are encouraged to wear name tags during Fellowship hour to facilitate introductions and conversation.

In Summertime from mid-June through August, Services are held at 10am in the air-conditioned Chapel. Access is via the brick walkway on the right side of the church, through the rear door, down the entrance hall, then right, up the stairs. The Chapel is on your left at the top of the stairs.

Fellowship hour follows the 10am service except during the summertime. Fellowship hour offers refreshments and the opportunity for conversation and meeting fellow parishioners. Visitors are encouraged to attend fellowship to learn more about Second Congregational Church in a warm and friendly setting. All regular attendees are encouraged to wear name tags to make it easier to make introductions.

Sailing Club service

In Summertime from mid-June through August, Services are held at 8am at the Cohasset Sailing Club on Cohasset Harbor in addition to the 10am service in the chapel. This is a wonderful, informal, spiritual service surrounded by the beauty of nature and summer activity in the harbor. Rain or Shine. Dress is casual with shorts and sandals typical.
Communion
Communion is typically served on the first Sunday of each month, as well as on Maundy Thursday and certain other services. All are welcome to partake in communion, regardless of membership in this church or this denomination. Participation of children is at the discretion of their parents
Children
Children of Sunday-school age typically attend the first part of worship with their families in the Sanctuary except for Communion Sundays on the first Sundays of each month. The minister typically delivers a children’s message in the early part of the service, after which children are dismissed to Sunday school, which runs concurrently with the remainder of the service. On Communion Sundays, children go directly to Sunday School.

Families with infants and toddlers are encouraged to place their children in our excellent nursery where they are well cared for during the service and can interact with others their own age. The nursery is run under the auspices of the Christian Education committee. The Nursery operates for the 10am service year around.

To relieve parental anxieties, the nursery uses a beeper system, similar to those used in restaurants, to alert parents to come to the nursery if they are needed. Diane Zona is our professional caregiver. If you have questions, please contact the director of Christian Education through the church office.

Participating in Sunday Service
Choir
Second Congregational Church has a wonderful Choir for the 10am service. The choir meets for practice Thursdays at 7:30 and is a wonderful way to meet the people of the church and add your own special contribution to the life of the church
Greeters & Ushers
Volunteers are sought to be Greeters & Ushers each week, which is frequently performed by families or friends. It involves being at church by 9:40, with two persons greeting attendees at the front door, and two other handing out bulletins upstairs as attendees enter the sanctuary. Once the service starts, responsibilities include taking the offering, as well as counting the total number of attendees. Detailed instructions are available for those unfamiliar with this volunteer activity
Readers
A volunteer is sought each week to read a new testament reading selected by the Minister.
Fellowship Hour
Volunteers are sought each week to host fellowship hour. This involve arriving between 9-9:30 to prepare coffee, lemonade and set up light refreshments, then serve the coffee and refreshments immediately following the service. Detailed instructions are available for those unfamiliar with this volunteer activity
